At the Vineland Board of Education meeting on April 1, 2026, Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) New Jersey recognized Robert Rush, the district’s JAG specialist, for meeting the program’s 'six of six' performance metrics and supporting strong student outcomes.
Dr. Sandra Strers, executive director of JAG New Jersey, told the board the program measures six performance outcomes — including graduation and employment metrics — and said Rush has met and exceeded those standards in multiple reporting years. She described the initiative as a pathway that helps students secure first jobs and prepare for sustained employment.
Robert Rush said the program focuses on placing students with employers and preparing them for work. He also announced the district’s annual, student-run job fair on April 17. "Our students need jobs and JAG is out to get our students work and jobs, get them set for after high school," Rush said.
Two JAG students addressed the board. Nefera Webster, a junior, said the class helped her plan a career in graphic design and provided volunteer and workplace experiences: "It also helps you navigate yourself within a career, how to maintain stature within that career and possibly stay within that career." Isaiah Rodriguez, another junior, said JAG built his soft skills and reduced his nervousness in workplace settings.
Janelle Duray and representatives from the JAG board presented Rush with a statewide recognition for his outcomes. Board members and administrators applauded the program’s impact and encouraged more board engagement with classrooms.
The JAG team credited employer partnerships and a focus on postsecondary pathways for student success. The program’s next district event is the April 17 job fair, organized and run by the students themselves.
