Elise, director of community development, told the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners that the county will hold a public work session on Monday, March 30 at 6 p.m. to explore a countywide Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO).
Elise said the SALDO would establish basic development standards for municipalities that currently lack their own subdivision and land development regulations and that any municipality that already has an ordinance could choose to remain independent or rescind its own rules to fall under the countywide standard. The session is open to municipal officials, engineers, surveyors, developers and residents who want to discuss what standards an ordinance should include and how review and approval should proceed.
Elise distributed flyers and business cards and invited interested parties to attend and provide input at the work session. Commissioners and attendees were told the session is a public work session rather than a formal public hearing; it is intended to gather input to inform potential drafting of countywide standards.
