Jackie O'Hogan, assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and accountability at the South Country Central School District, announced the results of the district's 2026 pre‑K lottery, saying 90 children were drawn for full‑day seats and five additional names were placed on a waitlist.
"We have 90 seats for a full day," O'Hogan said, and added that "if your child is named, you will be notified by central office with next steps." The district read the names aloud during the drawing and congratulated families whose children were selected.
The lottery proceeded sequentially, with the district calling numbers 1 through 90 to fill the full‑day slots. After completing those calls, the district read five additional names (numbers 91–95) to establish a waitlist order; O'Hogan said those families will be contacted in the order drawn if seats become available.
The district did not provide further enrollment details during the reading. O'Hogan closed the session by thanking attendees and saying the district looks forward to serving its newly enrolled students.
The South Country Central School District's central office will notify parents or guardians of next steps for enrollment and placement.
