Board work session moves several procurement items to consent, including textbooks, serving lines, and grounds services

District administrators moved several operational and procurement recommendations to the consent agenda for the April 14 meeting.

Ms. Houston asked the board to approve purchases from the district’s bulk bookstore up to $150,000 for FY2026; the request was moved to consent. Miss Trump recommended purchasing two serving lines for Heman E. Morris Middle School for $89,822 after an RFP that produced eight responses; she also recommended continuing the Smart Mouth Pizza program at Winder-Barrow and Apalachee at an annual cost of about $140,000 to increase meal participation. “Since introducing the Smart Mouth Pizza, we've seen significant results,” Miss Trump said, noting participation increases at the high schools.

Director Greg Webb reviewed facilities procurement: he recommended awarding an HVAC filter-change contract to Filter Pro IAQ after a January 2026 RFP (estimated five-year filter costs of $709,000) to free internal technical staff for more specialized repairs, described the custodial-supplies RFP that selected Imperial Dade to continue service, and asked to increase spending authority for ACS to consolidate grounds and athletic field services (proposed FY27 not-to-exceed amount $875,854). Staff said the consolidations aim to improve accountability, scheduling, and consistency while reducing overall cost. Each of these items was moved to consent.
