Committee approves conditional use to keep farm animals at Evergreen App address

The Adams County planning and zoning committee approved a conditional‑use permit on April 21 allowing farm animals on a parcel at 1581 Evergreen App.

Dusty described the application from Dennis and Relle Moyer as a conditional‑use request under section 40536C of the Adams County comprehensive zoning ordinance. Dusty told the committee the town of Easton did not object to the request.

Speaking from the line, the applicants said they previously kept seven animal units and "we now are under that number," and described their animals as "miniature donkeys and um pea fowl and chickens." The applicants said they understood the rule limiting one unit per acre on a five‑acre parcel.

Jerry moved to approve the conditional‑use request; Larry seconded and the committee approved it on a roll call vote. Dusty stated the approval does not require further action by the full county board.

Why it matters: The conditional use authorizes farm animals on a parcel where the county zoning code would otherwise restrict such uses without a permit. The committee recorded no objections during the hearing and the town of Easton did not object, per staff.

The committee proceeded to other items after the approval.
