Senate passes Bennington charter amendment, reads several House bills for committee referral

The Vermont Senate on April 1 passed H694, an amendment to the charter of the town of Bennington concerning the town manager, by voice concurrence. Earlier in the session the clerk read several House bills for first reading and referral: H727 (sustainable data center deployment) was referred to the Committee on Finance; H935 (emergency management) was referred to the Committee on Government Operations; and H938 (establishing the Vermont Homelessness Response Continuum) was referred to the Committee on Health and Welfare.

After calendar business, senators announced committee meeting times: Appropriations, Institutions, Government Operations, and Senate Finance had scheduled meetings that afternoon. The senator from Chittenden moved to adjourn; the Senate voted to stand adjourned until 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2026.
