The Redondo Beach Youth Commission voted to present its semiannual report to City Council at an upcoming meeting, with a staff‑led draft and commission speakers providing the delivery.
Staff reviewed a municipal code change requiring two reports to council each year and recommended the first be an in‑person presentation in May. Commissioners discussed topics to highlight: ebike safety and education, the teen center (with requested participation statistics), transit services concerns, support for library programs, and ideas tied to World Cup and Olympic memorabilia and potential lagoon watch parties. Commissioners emphasized including data where available to support recommendations.
Staff moved that the presentation be scheduled for May 19 with presenters Chair Reeds and Commissioners Lewin, Chabot and Ozcon; a commissioner seconded the motion and the commission voted unanimously to approve the plan. Staff said they will coordinate presenters, prepare slides and circulate a draft script in advance. Commissioners agreed to attend council to show support and staff offered to help rehearse and consolidate messaging so the presentation represents the commission as a whole.
