Reno County commissioners read and signed a proclamation designating Feb. 14, 2024, as Keever Auto and Machine Day in recognition of the shop’s 77 years serving the community.
The proclamation, read aloud by the chair, recounted the business’s origin with Jim Keever Sr. and the continuation of the shop by Jim Keever Jr., noting the business’s rebuild and engine work dating back to the 1970s and the owner’s recent retirement on Dec. 29, 2023. The chair invited the owner and his wife to come forward and sign the proclamation.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved the consent agenda (items 6 a–d) by roll call; the chair announced the consent agenda passed 5 to 0.
The meeting then proceeded to other agenda items, including an annual maintenance report and several commissioner reports. The board later recessed into executive session to discuss a potential real-estate acquisition.
