The Blair County Board of Commissioners on Thursday adopted three proclamations declaring April 2026 National County Government Month, National Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month and Fair Housing Month.
At the start of the meeting the Chair read each proclamation and the board adopted them by voice vote. The child-abuse proclamation noted that nearly 2.7 million reports were made to child protective services nationwide in federal fiscal year 2025, and the fair-housing proclamation cited the Fair Housing Act, enacted April 11, 1968.
The board also approved the consent agenda, which included ratification of six warrants, budget transfers to cover repairs to highway garage doors of about $64,987, and a request from the district attorney to approve a University of Richmond School of Law student intern, Olivia Gay, for a summer credit-only placement. The consent package approved use of the courthouse courtyard for an annual child-abuse awareness event on April 9, 2026, and a request to light the courthouse in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month for the duration of April.
Other consent items included a ratified letter of support from the commissioners to the Blair Township Water and Sewer Authority for a reservoir road sewer project and a letter of support for Jesse and Emily Pool in their application to host the 2027 Banana Ball World Tour at the Altuna Curve.
The meeting proceeded without public comment. The board set its next regular meeting for Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 10 a.m.
