The Northwest ISD board opened its meeting with multiple recognitions honoring students, volunteers and staff across the district.
Administrators introduced students who will graduate with associate degrees through Steel Early College and other campus programs; students identified their postsecondary plans, naming colleges and intended majors. The board recognized student athletes who qualified for UIL state wrestling and swimming championships, singled out state placers (including a state champion), and thanked accompanying coaches.
The board recognized Brianda Jasso as volunteer of the month (Seven Hills Elementary) and announced librarian award winners: Sarah Jones (Justin Elementary), Jessica Albus (Daniel Elementary), Britney Rzma (Lake View Elementary), Megan Batson (Wilson Middle School) and Natalie Span (Lance Elementary). District bookmark contest winners were Briana Hang (Worthington Middle School) and Adeline Mailing (Cindera Ranch Elementary).
Officials acknowledged the Reindeer Romp, a district fundraising 5K that reported 2,421 participants; the transcript records a fundraising figure rendered as "12,15," which is unclear in the meeting record. Multiple sponsor organizations were named and school participation winners were recognized.
Board members closed recognitions and proceeded to the business portion of the meeting.
