At its May 7 meeting the Coffee County Capital Outlay Committee approved several routine actions: a purchase of appliances for the new animal shelter and permission for a resident prayer group to hold meetings on the courthouse lawn Aug. 3–7.
Chair presented a Home Depot quote for appliances and said the committee would authorize purchase at the quoted price and coordinate with Budget & Finance if required. A motion to approve the appliance purchase was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The Chair noted the exact dollar figure read in the meeting transcript was ambiguous; staff said funds appear to be available and Budget & Finance may review the charge at its next meeting.
Separately, Hollingsworth described a resident’s request to hold daily prayer gatherings on the courthouse lawn for the week before school and asked the committee for a recommendation. Members discussed limited bathroom availability because the courthouse is under renovation and agreed the requester should be informed of restroom limits. The committee moved and approved permission for the use of the lawn with that understanding.
Both motions passed by voice vote and the committee scheduled its next meeting for June 4 at 4:00 p.m.
