The Board of Mayor and Aldermen took public comment May 7 on Ordinance 2026‑07, which would rezone approximately 101 acres near Waldron and Blair Road to PDR R‑3 as part of the Twinning Stations mixed‑use development.
Pat Lee, 754 Walden Road, who said she has lived at her address for 55 years, asked whether the Rutherford County School Board had been notified and warned that local schools "cannot handle anything else" given longstanding overcrowding. Chair explained the proposal is a mixed‑use development including retail, residential, a 55‑plus community, assisted living, apartments, single‑family homes and townhomes.
Residents asked for specifics on access points; officials indicated entrances are proposed on Waldron Road and Blair (Blair West) and that discussion has included a traffic signal at Snowdrop, but site plans had not been finalized. Walter Bowen, 723 Brushy Ridge Drive, said construction on Waldron Road and nearby subdivisions is already causing congestion and opposed the project, noting the road widening project was expected to begin in late 2026 or next year and could take roughly four to four‑and‑a‑half years to complete.
No board vote or formal decision on Ordinance 2026‑07 was recorded during the public hearing; the matter remains before the council for further action.
