Stewart County teacher Tabitha Bates named Curriculum Associates 'Extraordinary Educator'

The Stewart County School Board on its agenda recognized Tabitha Bates as one of Curriculum Associates’ 'Extraordinary Educators.' Lexi Beckwith of Curriculum Associates told the board that Stewart County students use I‑Ready diagnostics and classroom mathematics and that Bates was selected from a competitive national pool.

Bates, introduced by the presenter and the board, spoke briefly about her career and called the honor humbling after 24 years in education. The board presented her with a plaque noting she was one of 26 educators selected nationwide and mentioned she will be inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa during an April ceremony.

Lexi Beckwith said Bates may participate in Curriculum Associates’ national activities in the coming year, including a possible visit to the company's headquarters in Massachusetts. The board and meeting attendees offered congratulations and applause.

The recognition was presented early in the meeting; there was no formal action required beyond the presentation.
