At the May 7 meeting the council heard from Bridal La Riville, president of the Friends of Irving Museums, who announced that the Irving Archives and Museums' 'Badge of Pride' exhibition received an Award of Excellence from the Communicator Awards and a Museum Impact Award from the American Alliance of Museums. La Riville said the AAM described the exhibit as the largest artifact‑based LGBTQ+ history exhibition presented in Texas and praised the museum’s partnership with community storytellers.
Mayor Rick Stover and chamber representatives recognized Municipal Clerks Week and National Small Business and Economic Development Week. Beth Bowman, identified by the mayor as representing the Chamber, and others noted the Chamber had visited roughly 1,000 Irving small businesses in the preceding week and emphasized the role small businesses play in local job creation and community vitality.
The council presented proclamations and offered thanks to staff, volunteers and partner organizations; those items were ceremonial and did not require formal votes beyond the consent and proclamation process.
