Flower Mound parks board updates reservation policy and lowers memorial name fee to $1,000

The Flower Mound Parks and Recreation Board voted unanimously to approve two policy amendments: an administrative update to the park facility reservation allocation and use policy and an amendment to the Legacy Monument and Children's Memorial policy that reduces the fee to add a name to the memorial from $2,500 to $1,000.

Staff described the reservation‑policy update as largely administrative, adding recently built pavilions, an address for a location and noting that electricity is now available at one pavilion. The board moved to approve the changes and the motion passed unanimously after roll call.

On the memorial policy, staff told the board they had reexamined typical memorial costs and recommended lowering the fee to $1,000 to cover engraving and fabrication but not as a subsidy from town funds. “We are coming back to propose that we reduce that to 1000 dollars to have a name put on there,” staff said. The board approved the amendment unanimously.

The board also heard that project recommendations the board forwarded to the CDC for 4B funding have been moved forward for council’s consideration and will be included in next year’s budget if adopted.

Motions and votes: the consent approval of the April 9 minutes passed with one abstention (Jennifer Marchevsky); both policy amendments were approved unanimously.
