Glen County approves $1.78 million Motorola radio-console purchase for public-safety communications

Glen County commissioners voted unanimously March 19 to authorize a $1,779,497 purchase order to Motorola Solutions for Axis AXS radio consoles, using a Georgia state contract exemption and financing the purchase from the county capital projects fund.

Commissioner Rafalski moved to remove the item from the consent agenda so the board could amend the language; Commissioner Clark seconded. The board adopted amended language clarifying that costs will be proportionally allocated among participating agencies in the joint public safety communications department, subject to final form approval by the county attorney and a final agreement to be presented for ratification at the April 2 commission meeting.

The purchase was presented as part of the consent agenda. After discussion, the board voted to place the amended item back on the consent agenda and approved the consent agenda unanimously. The board did not identify individual vote tallies; the clerk announced the action carried unanimously.

The motion specifies the county attorney will review the final negotiated terms and that the allocation of costs will be proportionate across participating agencies and repaid over four years.

The decision advances the county's multi-year capital projects plan for public-safety communications. A final, executed agreement will be returned to the board for approval and ratification on April 2.
