Council authorized staff to advertise the borough’s annual alternative road treatment project (DPW-2-26) and awarded the Chambers Park paving contract (DPW-5-26) to Tresco Paving for $47,287.50.
Staff said DPW-2-26 carries a $250,000 CIP budget and typically uses chip seal and fibermat fog seals on selected roads; this year’s candidate streets include Crowoot, Sand Dune Drive and MPV Road. The project will be put out to bid to gauge costs and contractor availability.
For Chambers Park reconstruction work, bids were opened on March 18. Tresco Paving was the low bidder at $47,287.50; O'Neal Construction submitted the higher bid. The Chambers Park work is part of a larger $210,000 CIP allocation for reconstruction of the courts at the park, of which about $32,000 has been used to date.
Council approved both actions. Staff said portions of the overall CIP work may be completed in-house by public works while contracted bids cover heavier construction elements.
