The Oceanside Board of Education approved multiple formal motions on March 18, including placing three propositions on the May 19 ballot: the 2026–27 proposed expenditure budget (keeps instructional programs and full-time staff), the Oceanside Library operating budget, and a capital reserve project for high-school renovations.
In addition to the ballot items, the board approved routine and operational items by voice/roll-call votes: minutes, acceptance of financial and treasurer reports, transfer of funds, many use-of-facilities permits for community sports and youth groups, professional and civil-service personnel recommendations, hourly employees, CSE/CPSE recommendations, election inspectors, BOCES board nominations, inter-municipal and tuition agreements, a 5-year UPK provider extension, and acceptance of the internal audit report and its corrective-action plan.
One personnel action of note: the board approved rescinding Dr. Jill DeRosa’s employment contract that had been approved on Dec. 17, 2025, so the district could comply with TRS (Teachers’ Retirement System) regulations ahead of her April retirement; administrators said the appointment will be returned to the May agenda with appropriate TRS timing and a transition plan.
Votes were recorded in aggregate during the meeting (voice roll call). For ballot items, the board confirmed a schedule: budget hearing May 6, public vote May 19 (7:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m., Merle Avenue gym).
