Board approves administrator compensation, administrative contracts and consent items; policies received first reading

The board moved into a short executive session to consider compensation for public employees and reconvened to approve administrator compensation and administrative contracts. Motions were made and seconded; the meeting record shows affirmative responses from members and the items were approved.

The consent agenda was also approved; it included classified employment items (including hiring for a van-driver position), resignations and supplemental-service authorizations, and authorization related to summer and overnight student travel. The superintendent highlighted that hiring district drivers and purchasing vans is intended to reduce outsourcing costs for special-needs transportation.

Board members also opened the first reading of a large set of policy updates required by the state and reminded the public this was the first opportunity to ask questions before final readings and adoption. The treasurer noted the district had not yet received its property-tax settlement due to county timing, which the board said will be addressed in future financial reporting.
