Committee reviews NPDES/MS4 annual facility inspection report and environmental-justice mapping updates

County staff presented the annual facility inspection report for Champaign County’s NPDES/MS4 stormwater program for the period April 1, 2025, through March 31, 2026. Staff highlighted improvements to the environmental-justice map, saying the newest map includes street names, making the map easier to navigate.

"On page 101, the first map of the environmental justice areas, you will find street names," John Hall told the committee, noting that an improved map was completed with help from the Regional Planning Commission. Hall also summarized survey results (section F of the packet) and reminded committee members that the survey captures comments from environmental justice areas while a copy of the blank survey is available online year-round.

Staff cautioned that because the county submitted a new notice of intent in October to expand the MS4 program, some program components have not yet been completed and county-board questions could arise. The committee moved and approved the annual facility inspection report.
