The Walton County Technical Review Committee on May 6 voted to move multiple minor development orders forward on a conditional basis while continuing several contested proposals for additional review.
Among the actions: the committee conditionally approved Lot 1 in South Walton Commerce Park Phase 2 to advance to director issuance once outstanding engineering, traffic and environmental comments are resolved; it continued Grand Point West Phase 2, Watersound Town Center item and multiple other projects to the May 20 TRC so applicants can provide missing reviews; Sawmill Phase 2 was continued to allow verification of site access and utility capacity after resident testimony about low water pressure. The committee also continued the Rose Star Subdivision to June 3 to allow staff and county counsel to reconcile PUD ordinance and recorded conservation-easement documents.
Representative citizen remarks included a public commenter who told the committee, "There's so much construction and there's garbage everywhere," and a Sawmill resident who urged staff to verify Argyle Water could support new units, saying, "25 PSI is the water we get on our houses." Staff and applicants repeatedly noted that conditional approvals would not result in final issuance until all outstanding technical comments are satisfactorily addressed. The TRC scheduled several items for later Design Review Board or Zoning Board of Adjustment consideration as required.
