Sunbury City staff told the services committee on May 6 that the city is pursuing a refresh of its GIS data to support public-facing tools, asset tracking and a potential integrated work-order system for public works.
Staff described a year-end priority list in the proposed contract that includes finalizing a cemetery viewer started under a smaller contract last year (approximately $5,000) and producing a public-facing interactive map with auditor information, easement data and photos. Staff said an intern from Miami University named Vivian will begin this month and assist with data collection and verification.
In outreach updates, staff said public outreach for the Cheshire Ditch sewer lining project is complete and that the South Vernon Street reconstruction will proceed once a contractor is on board and a preconstruction schedule is available; staff said outreach materials and frequently asked questions will be provided to affected homeowners. Staff also said the East Granville Street widening project remains slated for construction in 2027 in alignment with funding availability and that the project's open-house materials are posted on the city's website.
Staff emphasized that the city will coordinate with school officials and public works to simulate paint-based traffic calming measures near schools (with cones) before the end of the school year so principals and staff can evaluate the changes.
