Lorraine Cochran Johnson, chief executive officer of DeKalb County, announced that work to reimagine Entrenchment Creek Park has begun, saying the plan will add expanded trails, new amenities and spaces designed for families and community connection.
Johnson said the Entrenchment Creek community "has been promised a state of the art park" since 2019 and described the county's approach as intentional and community-centered. "We have been very intentional about listening, planning, and creating a vision that reflects the needs and voices of our residents," she said.
The CEO outlined the broad features the county envisions for the site, saying the project will include "expanded trails, amenities, and spaces designed for families, for recreation, and for connection." She framed the effort as both honoring the area's natural and sacred qualities and meeting the needs of a growing community.
Johnson positioned the reimagining as a long-term investment: "A reimagined Entrenchment Creek Park is on the way, and what we're building here will serve DeKalb County for generations to come." She directed residents to the county Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs webpage for more information and resources.
The announcement did not include specific timelines, budget figures or contract details. Those items were not specified in the remarks.
