Planning staff updated the commission on April activity and staffing: the department issued 34 permits in April and collected approximately $30,000 in permit fees, staff said. The planning office reported increased interest from new businesses on North Main Street and the West Fulton Street corridor, new home permits in River North and an RFP to develop six vacant lots in the Woodland Estates subdivision targeted to small-scale builders or individuals.
Staff also said the assessor contract is up for renewal after the city’s assessment ratio fell below the 90% statutory threshold last year, and that the department is working on measures to readjust assessed values. Personnel updates included the arrival of a new residential building inspector and code-enforcement officer, Dan Hansen, and the announcement that Juliana accepted a professional opportunity in another community with a planned last day of May 15. Emma Anderson’s internship concludes after finals; staff praised her contributions.
Commissioners thanked staff and wished departing employees well. No action was required.
