City schedules Uptown streetscape open house to show utility-burial, pedestrian and signal plans
Mayor Steve Patterson announced an open house for the Uptown streetscape and utility relocation project, saying the event will be Tuesday the 19th from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Armory. He said city staff, project designers and contractors will be on hand to present designs and hear business-owner and resident feedback.

"We're gonna be talking about things like the utility burial and infrastructure upgrades that we're gonna see, the new landscaping and streetscape, pedestrian improvements for sure," Patterson said, urging nearby business owners and residents to attend. He named a corridor extension on Carpenter and State Street and said traffic-signal replacements are planned at several Uptown intersections.

Patterson said the city has prepared a map of summer construction projects and closures and that staff will review project timelines and detours at the open house. For questions city staff can be reached at 593-7636 or epwsupport@ci.athens.oh.us, Patterson said. The meeting is open to anyone interested in the Uptown project.
