The Consumer Protection Committee took votes on three bills in executive session.
Senate Bill 614 (as amended by amendment 1626) received a vote of 18-0 in committee and was placed on the consent calendar. The chair moved the 'ought to pass as amended' motion and Representative Spear seconded; the clerk recorded the unanimous result.
Senate Bill 661, relating to pool risk-management programs to be overseen by the insurance department, also passed by roll call 18-0 and was placed on the consent calendar.
Separately, the committee referred Senate Bill 498 to an interim study after a 14-4 roll-call vote following debate over an amendment that would create an insurer assessment to fund pediatric behavioral-health coordination. Committee members were asked to submit majority or minority reports and documentation by the end of the day.
All motions were conducted by roll call; the committee then closed executive session and concluded its meeting.
