Roberto Fernandez III, a Davie‑area resident and candidate for Broward County School Board District 6, used the meeting’s public‑comment period to urge the Town of Davie to coordinate with the school district and developers on school capacity as the town grows.
Fernandez said Nova High School currently has 21 portables and 14 modular classrooms and that many of those structures are more than 16 years old. He told the council that in January the school had roughly 480 outstanding work orders and described the growth in Davie as both a challenge and an opportunity. He proposed exploring public‑private partnerships so new development could support additional or improved facilities on existing school campuses.
Fernandez prefaced his remarks by noting he understands school‑construction decisions fall to the Broward County School Board; he said his request to the council was for the town to consider school impacts as it reviews development proposals and to seek coordination between the town, the School Board and developers.
