Wendy Beatty, the Clerk of Courts, briefed the Board May 6 on the county’s May 5 primary. She said total ballots cast were 7,030: 5,568 counted on election day and 1,462 absentee, for a voter turnout of 17.57 percent.
Beatty reported that election staff encountered an issue uploading absentee ballots into the vote reporting system overnight. Her team manually entered absentee totals late into the night to ensure official totals were correct and said a technician will attend the clerk’s office the morning after the meeting to troubleshoot whether the problem stemmed from the download process or a thumb drive.
Beatty said she printed and reconciled reports after manual entry and that the totals uploaded into the SVRS voter registration system matched the corrected results that were shared with Indiana voters. She also reported one election‑day disturbance in Dillsborough that required police removal of a disruptive individual; no broader operational issues were reported and election‑day centers saw no waiting lines.
Beatty agreed to return to a future meeting with findings from the technician’s review.
Next steps: Clerk’s office will investigate the absentee upload failure and report back to the commissioners with findings and any recommended process fixes.
