The Lawrenceburg City Planning Commission voted to approve an alley vacation that clears a narrow, record‑level strip of land directly in front of the School Administration Building to allow the school to expand.
Staff presented the request and told commissioners the parcel has been treated as a vestigial alley for decades and that vacating the record will permit the school to occupy the land as part of an administration‑building expansion. "Our first order of business tonight is vacating an alley that is right in front of the School Administration Building," the staff member said while introducing the packet materials, which staff noted had been included with meeting materials.
The staff report said the common council conditionally approved the alley vacation earlier in the week, and the planning commission heard no technical objections from reviewers. A commissioner moved to approve the vacation and a second was offered; the motion passed by voice vote.
Commission discussion focused on confirming that the item was a private‑property cleanup and that the vacation would not impede emergency or public access. With the commission vote recorded, staff said this completed the city’s review steps for the alley vacation and that the project will proceed under the conditions noted by the common council.
The commission then moved on to older agenda items; staff said the city will post meeting follow‑ups on its website and that next commission meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month.
