Adelanto — Council members said the recent State of the City event was well produced but that outreach to the community should improve to boost attendance at future events and volunteer efforts.
The Chair said cleanup-day turnout shows community engagement is possible but that the same residents did not attend the State of the City. "We gotta find a way to reach out to the people that are interested in the community ... so those people, first half, I don't care if we give them a voucher, an invite," the Chair said, urging the council to consider targeted outreach or incentives.
A council member announced the council had been invited to Hesperia's city celebration on the 16th, Monday at 11:30 a.m., and asked members to RSVP to Rachel or Naeika. The meeting transcript records the invitation and asks members who plan to attend to respond to staff.
Separately, the Chair described donating a piano to a high school band and encouraged residents to contact him with further donations; he praised the band director's commitment.
No formal outreach program or budget allocation was proposed during the meeting; the discussion focused on ideas for increasing participation and recognizing volunteers.
