The LaSalle County Land Use Committee voted May 6 to accept a renewal of the county'9s five‑year delegation agreement with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. The agreement covers delegated inspections for landfills, transfer stations, open dumping, closed landfill inspections and compost facilities, and it expires June 30 under the current term.
Brian (county staff) told the committee that the EPA agreed to increase reimbursement for the program from roughly $97,000 previously to about $152,000 under the renewed budget. He said the increase will help cover program costs including vehicle purchases, training and a portion of staff salaries charged to the delegated program.
"One of the vehicles is fully being paid out of this fund," Brian said, adding that training and portions of staff salaries were included in the reimbursement budget.
The committee moved and voted to accept the delegation agreement renewal and forward it to the full county board. A roll call recorded the same set of aye votes used earlier in the meeting; the motion passed.
Next steps: Staff will prepare the renewal paperwork and present it at the next full board meeting for final execution.
