Planning staff outlines comprehensive plan update and summer–fall public engagement

Planning staff member Meg Jennings told the commission she and two interns will begin public engagement for the comprehensive plan update over the coming months. Jennings said the effort will include open houses, topic‑specific stakeholder meetings, a public survey, targeted neighborhood meetings and outreach to city commissions and departments; planners intend to collect data over the winter and draft the plan the following spring, followed by public review before final adoption.

Jennings asked residents and stakeholders to watch city announcements, social media and the Nixel app for meeting notices and said interested stakeholders should email her to be included in targeted sessions. She also said the city is assembling a comprehensive plan review advisory commission with applicants forwarded to council.
