Commission approves easement for Mark Twain Community Center and $95,000 traffic‑study contract

The board approved two infrastructure items aimed at supporting local projects: a grant of easement to Henry Energy to provide electrical and communications service to a new metal garage at the Mark Twain Community Center, and a professional services contract with GCW Inc. not to exceed $95,000 to evaluate traffic flow in areas affected by Tahoe‑Reno Industrial Center growth.

Kathy (county staff) described the easement as following the driveway north of the community center to allow electrical service to reach the new building. "This is a request... to allow for the electrical service to reach that building," she said. The motion to approve the easement passed unanimously.

Kathy also presented the GCW contract, a two‑phase study that will first evaluate Waltham Way and then roads west of USA Parkway to identify potential turn‑lane needs and capital improvements. The county will fund the first phase from the planning department professional‑services budget and expects delivery by July 1; the second phase is budgeted next fiscal year. Commissioner Mitchell moved to approve the contract; the board voted in favor unanimously.
