Alachua County courthouse is posthumously renamed for Judge Stefan P. Mickle

The Alachua County Commission and local leaders commemorated Judge Stefan P. Mickle with a renaming of the county criminal courthouse. Speakers from the judiciary, commissioners and community members praised Mickle’s life and public service and participated in a commemorative video and remarks.

Why it matters: Commissioners described the renaming as recognition of decades of public service and a symbolic gesture intended to inspire future generations of public servants and lawyers. County staff and family members participated in the ceremonies and video tribute.
