Council adopts ordinance adding vehicle-registration and liability-coverage section to city code

The Green River City Council on third and final reading adopted an ordinance amending the Green River Code of Ordinances Chapter 24, Article 1 by adding section 24-19 to address vehicle registration and liability coverage. The council moved and seconded the ordinance and approved it by voice vote.

City staff explained the change is intended to codify registration and liability coverage requirements and to allow certain enforcement actions to be handled through municipal court. "This third and final reading to the Green River Code of Ordinances to adopt registration and liability coverage into ordinances so we can send directly to municipal court," said the staff presenter (speaker S10).

Councilmembers offered no further discussion before the motion was called. The presiding official asked those in favor to signify by saying "aye," and the motion carried. The ordinance will be incorporated into the city code as section 24-19 and becomes part of the local enforcement tools available to municipal staff.

The council did not record an individual roll-call tally in the transcript; adoption was effected by voice vote. Any implementing administrative rules or municipal-court procedures tied to the ordinance will be handled by staff and brought forward as needed.
