The Montgomery County Commission postponed action on an ARPA budget modification and asked county staff for written updates on two county-related facilities.
When the commission took up an ARPA funds budget modification for the Montgomery County Shares Foundation, the county attorney recommended additional legal research on the scholarship component of the proposal. The chair read the attorney's recommendation and the commission voted to defer the item to the next meeting so staff and counsel can further review the legal "reality of the scholarship part of it." The item will return to a future agenda after the research is completed.
Separately, Commissioner Saiki asked the administrator to provide a written status report in the next few days on Jackson Hospital and the WhiteWater facility, noting there had been changes and that an audit had not yet been completed. The administrator said the commission would receive that report within a few days.
No formal action on the ARPA modification was taken today; minutes will reflect that the item was moved to the next meeting for further study. The commission affirmed that further legal analysis and staff follow-up are required before any ARPA funds are disbursed for the scholarship component.
