At the April 1 meeting the Public Safety and Justice Subcommittee moved and seconded two procedural items and approved both unanimously.
The subcommittee voted to approve the March 4, 2026 meeting minutes; Chair Robinson cast the aye and the motion passed unanimously. Later the subcommittee approved a consent item directing staff to develop an updated ordinance and return the item to the subcommittee at a later meeting; that motion also carried with unanimous ayes.
Items numbered 5 through 8 on the agenda were listed as information only (updates on Levine Tower, fire staffing and response time, community assistance program expansion, and hiring/recruitment/attrition). Councilman Waring asked for follow up on a proposed new 24‑hour medical response placement in District 2 and whether a property discussion with Mayo Clinic might advance the location of a future Fire Station 71; fire staff said they are working with Community and Economic Development to pursue property but did not provide specific response‑time estimates and offered to follow up with additional details.
No registered public speakers addressed the subcommittee during the call to the public and the chair adjourned the meeting at about 10:50 a.m.
