The Lafayette City Council on May 4 approved a $1,350,000 appropriation from the Motor Vehicle Highway Restricted Fund (2030) to fund city street improvements and to serve as the local match for a Community Crossings resurfacing grant.
"This $1,350,000 appropriation request is from the motor vehicle highway restricted fund to fund improvements to city roads and streets," said Jeremy Deal, city controller. He told the council the fund has "a cash balance that exceeds $2,000,000," and that there are no other significant obligations against it.
City staff said the grant will be used this year to resurface Creasy Lane from Greenbush South to U.S. 52. The council did not receive public comment on the item. By roll call vote, the ordinance passed 7-0.
The approval came during the council’s second-reading consideration of the ordinance; council members indicated no objections during the brief discussion and called for a roll call vote to adopt the appropriation.
