The Roosevelt Fair School Board approved several routine housekeeping items May 5, including declaring three aging automated external defibrillators (AEDs) surplus and receiving updates on sales tax collections and the monthly financial report.
A staff member told the board the three AEDs are nearly 20 years old and obsolete; the items will be declared surplus and disposed of in accordance with state bid law and school board policy. Hunter Smith moved to approve the surplus declaration and Joe Mitchum seconded; the board approved by voice vote with ayes recorded.
Board members also heard a presentation requesting permission to distribute instructional supplies funded by a 1979 sales tax for the 2026–27 fiscal year; staff said allocations changed slightly based on student enrollment and the schools’ reconfiguration and that distributions would be revisited if enrollment projections shift when school opens.
Staff reported April 2026 sales tax collections were up 16% compared with April last year and that year‑to‑date sales tax receipts were up approximately 4.75%. The general fund had collected about 76% of budgeted revenues and expended roughly 68% of budgeted expenditures for the period ending March 31, 2026.
Before adjourning, the board was reminded of upcoming graduation dates for district schools.
Motions to approve the meeting agenda and the minutes of the April 9 meeting were made and carried earlier in the session.
