At the May 4 workshop, district counsel reviewed the superintendent's annual evaluation and the related employment agreement process.
Counsel summarized the evaluation instrument results, saying the superintendent scored 370 out of 375 points on the standards-based section (about 98.7%) and full points on the student-performance objectives. "That works out to 98.7% ... which I think is an A-plus," counsel said. Board members spoke in support of the superintendent's performance and the district's leadership outcomes.
The chair proposed placing an item on the upcoming business meeting agenda to consider extending the superintendent's employment contract for up to one year. Board discussion was supportive; several members voiced preference for at least a one-year extension. The board asked staff to add the extension to the Monday agenda for formal consideration and vote.
Why it matters: Contract extensions and evaluations are formal personnel actions that determine leadership continuity; a timely agenda item allows the board to consider extension before the superintendent's current contract expires in July.
Next steps: The extension item will be placed on the next business meeting agenda; if the board votes to extend, the extension will be processed according to board policy and the superintendent's employment agreement.
