The Planning Commission voted to continue consideration of the Sequoia Mansion conditional use permit (CUP 26-01) and related variances to a date certain of May 19, 2026 so the applicant can provide formal parking agreements.
Planning staff explained the request seeks to legalize a building's current use as an event venue (previously permitted as a restaurant) but that topography prevents the originally proposed on-site parking plan. Staff said it received two written public comments: one supportive neighbor with conditions regarding the shed and parking and another rear neighbor raising concerns about nighttime kitchen vent noise and early-morning garbage pickup. Staff recommended continuing the item until the applicant secures written parking agreements with two churches and El Dorado High School.
A commissioner moved to continue the item to the May 19 meeting; a second was recorded and the motion passed unanimously. Staff said the continuance would allow the applicant time to submit the missing parking agreements and that staff had received two of the agreements late the day of the meeting and would review them before the next hearing.
Next steps: the applicant should supply the formal parking agreements before the May 19 hearing; staff will include any newly submitted agreements in the supplemental materials to be reviewed by the commission.
