The Tennessee Fire Commission approved a series of administrative items and elected officers during its May 16 meeting.
After vendor presentations, the commission voted to approve a batch of Vector Solutions continuing-education course resubmissions and several new submissions. The commission also heard from a CE Solutions representative about converting varied online materials to standardized hour-based credits; members requested the office help classify which courses should be recorded as 1 hour, 1.5 hours or other durations before final approval. The motion to approve the vendor submissions passed by voice vote.
A 40-hour basic-principles arson course submitted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's arson division was presented with correlation sheets; the commission moved, seconded and approved the course.
On officer selections, Bill Scott was nominated and elected chair by acclamation, Corey Green was named vice chair by acclamation, and Stephanie Boatwright was chosen as secretary-treasurer. The commission also added and approved several agenda additions earlier in the meeting, including adding March virtual minutes to the agenda and adding a motion to consider an individual (Gary Combs) under new business.
The commission closed with announcements about the next meeting (Aug. 17–18, likely in Clarksville) and adjourned.
