The BART commission on April 28 approved several park-related measures, including a permit for summer events, selection of an 18‑foot gazebo design for Hailey Point Park and use of a spare dock piece from the local fire department at Hailey Pond Park.
The chair opened the meeting and confirmed a quorum before commissioners moved on permits and equipment. A committee member moved to approve the Rangeley Guide & Sportsman Association strawberry festival for July 9; the motion was seconded and carried without objection.
Commissioners then reviewed options for a new gazebo after an on-site meeting at Hailey Park. The chair said the commission preferred the 18‑foot size and asked staff to verify last year’s pricing and to prepare an RFP. “So we do have a quorum for this evening,” the chair said while leading the discussion, signaling the group’s readiness to act.
Members also discussed a dock the fire department no longer needs. A staff member explained that Chief Bacon’s dock piece has been unused and could be made available; commissioners moved and approved placing the spare piece next to the Hailey Pond Park loading site pending final confirmation with the fire department.
Items approved at the meeting will be handled administratively by staff: verifying the gazebo quote, preparing the procurement materials, and coordinating the dock transfer with the fire department.
The commission did not specify funding sources or installation timing at the meeting; staff said they will follow up with details and confirm availability before proceeding.
