Committee member (S4) introduced an ordinance for second reading to revise rules and procedures governing water-account management, billing and collections, and the council discussed seeking matching funds for a related infrastructure project.
"An ordinance to revise the rules, regulations, practices, and or procedures governing water account management, billing, and collections," Committee member said during the judicial item to introduce Ordinance number 2026-09. The item was presented as a second reading; no final vote on adoption was recorded at this meeting.
On grants, Committee member (S4) said the village is awaiting notice on a grant award and that he will draft a letter to Representative Kishman seeking help identifying matching funds. He noted the project includes a pipe behind the stadium that supplies water to the school and nearby residents and said a failure of that pipe could leave those facilities without water.
Councilors discussed options if matching funds are not secured. One councilor noted the village could pursue a loan through OWDA (Ohio Water Development Authority) to cover needed match funds, as was done previously for the water tower project. Committee member (S4) said he would continue pursuing state or private sources and possible municipal partners to cover the village’s share of any match requirement.
No ordinance vote occurred; councilors asked staff to continue pursuing grant details and to report back on funding options and timing.
