Commission backs rezoning of Piggett Properties from agricultural to single‑family

The Davenport commission voted to forward REZ26‑04 to city council, a zoning map amendment to change Piggett Properties from agricultural (AG) to R‑1 single‑family residential in Ward 1.

Commissioner Schneider presented the staff recommendation, saying the property lies in an agricultural reserve area under the future land‑use plan that allows limited residential construction. Staff reported that notices were sent to property owners within 200 feet and that no public comments were received. The recommendation noted the change would enable development consistent with surrounding neighborhood patterns and would not create new nonconformities.

Applicant Craig Piggott told commissioners he plans to develop the parcel as a single property rather than subdividing it. There were no follow‑up questions recorded.

The commission took roll call and the motion to forward REZ26‑04 to city council with a recommendation for approval passed; commissioners on the roll call voted yes. The item will now go to the Davenport City Council for final action.
