The Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 10 adopted the county’s 2021 annual budget and recalculated the property tax levy to 3.212.
The board approved Resolution 20‑12, which lists general county purpose levies totaling $4,559,876.00 along with allocations for secondary roads and other budgets for the Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2021 fiscal year. Commissioner Keith Mushitz moved to approve the resolution and Vice‑Chairman Nick Stotz seconded; Chairman Neil Von Eschen signed the document after the motion carried unanimously.
Commissioners also authorized contingency transfers under Resolution 20‑11 that reallocated $100,100 from contingency: $100,000 to the insurance budget and $100 to the planning and development budget, to cover unexpected expenses. The board approved a separate $15,000 cash transfer from the General Fund to the 24/7 fund during the same meeting.
Auditor Danielle Davenport presented the budget documents and confirmed that the adopted provisional budget is available for public inspection at the county auditor’s office. The record shows motions for the budget and transfers were made by Mushitz and seconded by Stotz and recorded as “all in favor, motion carried.”
The commission adjourned the meeting with the budget adopted and the stated levy and transfers in effect for 2021.
