The Danbury City Council confirmed Paul Perotti's promotion to Deputy Fire Marshal and approved multiple appointments and grant applications during its May 5 meeting.
Mayor Roberto Alves submitted Perotti's promotional appointment, citing his Danbury Fire Department service since 2008, prior roles as acting lieutenant and chief's aide, and multiple certifications. Councilman Joseph Britton moved to confirm the appointment and the council approved by voice vote. Perotti thanked the mayor, the council and family members present.
The council also received and approved a resolution to submit a Connecticut Community Investment Fund round 9 grant application to support capital improvements at Richter Park, including infrastructure, accessibility and cultural programming. Richter Park supporters who spoke during public comment urged the council to back the grant; Richter Park superintendent Nick Mortara detailed the irrigation system's age and potential water savings from modern controls.
Reappointments approved by the council included Elizabeth Fulk to the Environmental Impact Commission and Barry Ricker to the Zoning Board of Appeals; the council also confirmed municipal appointments to the Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority.
What happens next: Perotti's promotion takes effect following the council confirmation; the administration will submit the Community Investment Fund grant application for Richter Park and staff will continue required follow-up for reappointments and grant conditions.
