The Souderton Area School District Board of School Directors recognized students and highlighted a district wellness program during the meeting.
The high school data analytics team — Alex Shire, Liam Musselman, Jimmy Reath, Carson Pro and Josh Miller — won top honors at a competition at Saint Joe's University for an analysis of GLP-1 utilization and presented recommendations by age group. Teacher Jackie Lavely described the students’ learning process and noted their use of visualization tools such as Tableau. Student Alex Shire told the board the team learned that the largest age group using GLP-1 drugs was 40–65.
The board also recognized National History Day competitors Valencia Nguyen and Avani Sidapara, who placed first in the junior website-design category; Amal Ahmad finished second in the state and will attend nationals.
Superintendent Dr. Gallagher presented the district’s "Paws in the Halls" program, describing two facility dogs (Wheeler, a goldendoodle, and Ruby, a black lab), donor support that paid for Wheeler, and a pledge from the Indian Valley Education Foundation to fund a third dog. Teachers and students spoke about the dogs’ positive effects on student engagement and emotional support.
Board members formally moved and approved motions to acknowledge the students’ achievements during the meeting. No policy or budget action specific to the program was taken at this meeting beyond recognition and acknowledgement of donor support.
