The Select Board voted to approve an all‑alcohol restaurant license and a Sunday entertainment license for Devour Artisan Eatery LLC d/b/a The Rebel Room at 291 Main Street.
Applicant Agnes Hirschfield (speaker 16) told the board the Rebel Room will be a 49‑seat restaurant and lounge focused on elevated small plates and craft cocktails alongside a premium mocktail program. “Safety is our number one priority,” Hirschfield said, describing measured pours and a requirement that front‑of‑house staff be TIPS‑certified. She said entertainment will be curated, low‑volume performances by local musicians and that the establishment would close doors to prevent spillover into the street.
Board members asked about hours, amplification and capacity during entertainment; Hirschfield said the operation would be small and typically host two to three nights of entertainment per week during the summer. Some neighbors voiced concerns about late‑night noise and increased traffic; Nancy Dowd (speaker 18) asked whether the board could limit hours, and Joanne Treisman (speaker 11) urged support and said she welcomed a walkable evening venue.
After discussion the board moved and seconded approval; the roll call vote was recorded as unanimous “Aye.” No formal conditions beyond the normal licensing and health inspections were attached in the motion recorded on the transcript.
The licenses include a Sunday entertainment license and a common victualler license as applicable; the public hearing notice for the entertainment application was read into the record and the board closed the hearing before voting.
