Kingman council approves Surbak Cliffs Golf Course fee increases, clarifies senior/veteran rate

The Kingman City Council voted May 5 to approve Resolution 5615, adopting a new fee schedule for Surbak Cliffs Municipal Golf Course effective June 1.

Mike Meersman, representing golf course staff, explained the changes recommended by the golf commission and noted an editorial correction council had previously requested: the senior and veteran weekday 18‑hole walking rate should be $27 (reduced from the $30 shown in the packet). Meersman read the published annual-pass and daily‑rate schedule for the public and noted optional cart registration and private‑cart fees.

A resident, Kevin Paulus, asked for clarity on annual pass card inclusion and whether veteran season passes exist; staff confirmed the published rates are on the city website and at the golf course counter and explained some pass categories did not change. Councilors encouraged posting the new rates at the golf course and reminded the public the rates are not effective until June 1, giving residents time to purchase at current rates.

Council approved the resolution by voice vote. Staff said the golf commission and staff reviewed comparable regional courses and believe Surbak Cliffs remains an affordable local value even with the increases.
